Sombrero Key Lighthouse, Florida

This 142 ft. brown structure is the largest lighthouse in the Florida Keys.  It was built in 1858 under the supervision of Lt. George Meade, automated in 1960, and is still in operation.

Mobile Bay Lighthouse, Alabama

This octagon-shaped lighthouse stands in the middle of Mobile Bay in Alabama.  It was also known as Middle Bay light.  It was activated in 1885, deactivated in 1967.

The wife of the lighthouse keeper had a baby in 1916.  They kept a cow for milk on the lower part.

Southwest Reef Lighthouse, Berwick, LA

This lighthouse was built in 1858 and originally located on a reef near the entrance of Atchafalaya River south of Morgan City and Berwick.  It was relocated next to the western docks in Berwick in 1987.

I remember it from its original place back in 1966.  It was colored white then.
